Filing Warranty Claims

If you have a claim denied, and you feel it should have been covered, there are several steps you can take. I know it is easy to get angry, trust me I've been there myself, but remember you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Try calling and explaining your position to the company. Be civil, and explain that you have enjoyed your dealings with the company, but you are upset with the denial of coverage. If the representative you are speaking with still doesn't agree with your point of view, thank the person and politely ask to speak to his or her supervisor.

If you haven't achieved satisfaction from the phone call, write a letter to the company. You can see an example claim letter online or download a Word .doc version here. Feel free to copy the letter and modify it for your claim.

After contacting the company, you may want to take your case to the Better Business Bureau. Companies participating in the bureau's Online Reliability program have to agree to dispute arbitration in order to participate in the program.
